Project Summary:
Emerging MPEG-4 and MPEG-7 standards were introduced to provide solutions for better compression, delivery, and management of multimedia contents.
These standards have to provide standardized ways for content manipulation based on an object-based view and do not specify how to produce contents.
For example, Video Object Plane (VOP) generation was not specified in MPEG-4.
We have developed a real-time object tracking method based on optimal adaptive wavelet basis features for rectangular objects.
This work has been accepted at IEEE International Conference on Image Processing 2003.
We try to extend this work for arbitrary shape objects.
The results will be a semi-automatic content generation tool for MPEG-4 encoder and base of a description generator tool for visual scenes in MPEG-7 standard.
